A Luxury Super Yarn from the Highlands of Peru

Beautifully soft, warm and extremely light, Alpaca comes in a wide range of natural colours from ivory to brown, grey and black. Naturally hypoallergenic, Baby Alpaca is as soft as cashmere but doesn’t ball. Its thermal capacity is due to air pockets in the Alpaca fiber. This means that it is exceptionally warm and cosy without being heavy.

Alpacas eat a diet of grasses and live at altitudes where temperatures can range from -20°C to 30°C in a single day. They are not killed for their fleece, and are shorn annually to prevent heat stress and to ensure the quality of the fiber. The makers of Ketzal Blankets are based in Arequipa, Peru, and we greatly value their skill set and know-how.
